I am currently working with Ofsted 'Outstanding' rated special school in the Tadworth area (Surrey), we are recruiting for an SEN Teacher to work with a primary class (5-11 years old). The school specialise in providing support for children and young people with profound Autism and associated needs.
Due to the location, this role will ideally suit someone with their own transport
Location: Tadworth, Surrey (KT20)
Contract Type: Temp- Perm / Permanent
Start Date: September 2024
Duration: Monday - Friday (Full-Time)
Class Size: 5-6 students
Needs of students: Profound Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and associated challenging behaviours.
The successful applicants will have:
- Previous experience teaching at KS1 and/or KS2.
- Ability to plan and deliver high quality, engaging lessons.
- Experience teaching and/or working with students with special needs.
- Previous experience dealing with challenging behavior & excellent behaviour management skills.
- Ability to utilise/implement Positive Behaviour Strategies.
- A calm, patient manner and ability to react positively to a fast-changing environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with staff, parents and students.
The role will consist of:
- Teaching to a class of varying needs including varied types of learning levels.
- Work closely with students, their parents/careers and other members of staff to make sure that the students are happy and learning well.
- Adapting the syllabus according to the individual students' EHCP.
- Make appropriate use of a range of monitoring and assessment strategies to evaluate pupil's progress.
- Focused on improving long term outcomes for our young people.
To be eligible for this role you must have an Enhanced Child or Child & Adult Workforce barred list DBS Certificate registered on the update service.
